Role Overview

The Financial Accounting Manager will take full responsibility for the running of the company's financial accounting & property accounting function including statutory reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, tax & treasury functions (including corporate tax, VAT, and day-to-day cash reporting), fixed asset additions, and analysis of key control accounts for one this world leading agricultural product manufacturer.

Key Responsibilities | Deliverables

  • Ensure that appropriate controls exist such that the company has integrity in its financial reporting - including compliance with key regulatory areas
  • Manage the financial accounting team and ensure that day to day responsibilities are performed to a high standard
  • Work with the finance team to ensure that key aspects of the company's financial accounting processes are appropriately administered and information is available in a timely fashion
  • Leadership of the financial accounting team and ensure that appropriate discussions are taking place across the team in terms of individual performance
  • Take accountability for analysis and reporting of fixed asset expenditure
  • Responsibility for the daily cash position and likely short term requirements, assist over preparation of key aspects of daily banking (e.g. management of loan facility, compliance certificate, facility renewal, etc.)
  • Point of contact for bank's relationship managers
  • Day to day responsibility for FX requirements and forward planning - including liaison with commercial team to understand requirements
  • Corporation tax - oversee and assist in the preparation of corporation tax submissions (including quarterly payments on account) and liaise with external parties for technical assistance when required
  • Work with auditors to ensure subsidiary statutory accounts are produced within the required timescales
  • Lead the property accounting team to ensure accurate accounting for rents, rates and other store property related costs
  • Ensure that the management is well appraised of the company's financial position - current working capital and cash position and short term forecasting for these measures

Experience | Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Professional accounting qualification
  • Significant senior financial accounting expertise, experience and knowledge
  • Experience in managing complex finance process analysis, design and improvement initiatives, including defining the approach, structure and operations
  • Experience of leading, managing and motivating others and driving change
  • Experience in initiating, developing and improving financial processes
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Experience of working effectively in different cultures, preferably gained in an International Development Organisation
